Aiming for 4,096 miles in 2016!

It's been a while since I've written anything here at all. Anyway, I wanted to share why I've not put fingers to keyboard in a long while. It's mostly because of this crazy running thing... it sort of escalated...

2014 (5 million steps, 2,400 miles):

2015 (6.3 million steps, 3,200 miles [and a FitBitSurge that counts floors]):

However, this year I had a secret weapon in my war against steps, a lady I only know as Janelle23, who has cheered me on from Minneapolis since we found each other on the internet during #FitBitGoalDay earlier this year when she was taking on an epic 80,000 step in a single day challenge!!

My PR was running a half up to our neighbors in Lexington, MA.

So my current plan, and challenge to myself for this year is to see if I can pull off 4,096 miles? Folks outside my world of the total raging computer nerd may wonder why 4,096... it's also pretty cool. There are 12 months in a year, and if you multiply twelve twos together... you get?

4096

It's also a rather long way 866 miles further than I covered this year, although I managed 824 more this year than in 2014 so seems like a plan. Also ever so slightly worried about logging an average of 78+ miles a week, but a challenge is a challenge!

Finally, let me raise a glass to our anonymous internet friends:

Here's to you Janelle23, you're an inspiration, let's each of us take a moment to remind everyone of why the internet is still pretty awesome!

Happy new year to each of us as we all chase our own goals!

Together. We will all be totally awesome!
