a cautionary tale about storage and backup

This type of activity never happens inside of our research computing shop! This video is purely hypothetical, no faculty or research computing associates were harmed in the making of this movie.

  6. Never give clients or users more data than can ever be backed up. If management refuse to pay for more backup storage, then you don't give it to them or you'll end up with this situation.

  7. Very totally and completely realistic except for the line " . . . I am kind of a big deal." More like "I am such a big deal that I'm surprised you can still exist and be able to talk while standing so close to me."

  10. I was offline around the holidays so I just got to this - fantastic! 15Mill grant, 5k on storage, huh? Next time his postdoc should look at those Drobos, maybe Newegg would have a special on them, ahahahaha.
